CAFE Technology News 12/17/14

Turning off Technology - IMPORTANT

The last three Mondays it has been brought to my attention that projectors have been left on over the weekend.  This means the projector has run non-stop for 72 hours.  The projector bulbs are very costly (about $250 each) and the projectors are also costly ($500-700 each).  Please be mindful of turning off technology when you are not in the room for an extended period of time.
A few tips:
1.  Assign students to remind you to turn off the projector when going to recess, lunch, connect, and leaving at the end of the day.  Or assign students with the task of turning off the projectors (please check behind them).
2.  Put a reminder in sub plans.  Leave a reminder in bold for subs to turn off the projectors when they leave the classroom.
3.  Check your office mate's room when they have a sub to ensure the projector is turned off.

Leaving for the holidays:
As you leave this Friday, please turn off your Elmo, computers, projectors, amps, and DVD players.

Pictures for the Front Office TV

If you have any class pictures you want featured on the Front Office TV for January, please send them to me by this Friday.  Please include a short one or two-sentence explanation.

Computer Coding with Classes

Several of our classes enjoyed participating in Hour of Code last week!  Each class learned about computer coding and then created their own lines of code.  Here is a picture of some of the snowflakes our 3rd and 4th grade students designed using the coding program.
Classes can still participate in coding after break!  If your class would like to learn about coding (or continue coding), please schedule a time with me in the lab.

CAFE Technology News 12/3/14

I hope you all had a relaxing Thanksgiving Holiday and enjoyed spending time with friends and family! If you're like me, you're probably still recovering from over-eating.  I'm still stuffed :)

Technology Work Orders

If you have any technology needs, please continue entering work orders for these.  If you are unsure of how to enter a work order, please stop by my office and I will be happy to show you.  As a reminder, your work order login is the same as your email (first.last and email password).

 iReady Training Follow-Up

A Few Reminders from our iReady Training today:
  • County is still importing teachers and students, so it will not be available until January.
  • Lisa, Beth, and I will be coming to your PLCs to go over iReady more in-depth.
  • You have a demo login that you can use to get yourself familiar with the program.

Projectors

Several projectors are being left on while classes are at lunch, recess, and connect.  These bulbs cost around $250.  Please be mindful of turning these off when you are leaving your classroom.
Tip: Assign 1 or 2 responsible students with this task.  They can rotate days and remind each other about turning it off.

Holiday Celebrations

I will be coming around to get pictures of your classes during the Holiday Celebrations to put on Facebook.  If you take additional pictures and would like for them to be added, you can email those to me.  Each grade level will have their own album on Facebook for the holiday parties.
